Is any part of my move passed along to an outside contractor?
We do the work ourselves — no exceptions. Every truck is titled to Jacksonville Budget Movers, and every person on it draws a W-2 paycheck from us, never from a subcontractor. The name on your estimate is the same name on your invoice, so your job never gets posted to a load board or passed off to another outfit. Whoever quotes the job is standing in your driveway on moving day.
What proof do you have that you're properly licensed and covered?
Yes. Jacksonville Budget Movers is Florida-registered, carries full cargo coverage on every load, and is in good standing right now. That satisfies both state and interstate insurance requirements, and we'll hand over a certificate of insurance any time a property manager or base housing office wants one on file before letting the truck in. Flat rate or hourly?
Hourly, but locked in as one flat per-truck-and-crew figure before anyone loads a box — not a meter that keeps climbing once the clock starts. A cheap-sounding phone quote usually grows once a bridge backup or a long carry eats into the hours; ours doesn't, because the crossing and the driveway are already priced into the number we give you. Run long? That's our problem to absorb, not yours to pay for.
Do you handle military PCS moves?
Constantly. It's a large share of the calendar. A report date fixed by NAS Jacksonville or Naval Station Mayport, a base housing move-in window, or paperwork tied to government orders all get mapped out before the truck leaves the yard. Marcus builds the report date into the schedule from the first call, and it never turns into a surprise line item.
My closing keeps slipping. Can you hang onto my belongings until it clears?
Yes, and it happens more than you'd think. Closings slip, and hurricane season adds its own scheduling pressure every fall. Your belongings go into a clean local storage unit, billed month to month based on size, with the first month often around half off. Once your new keys are in hand, the same crew brings everything the rest of the way.
How does valuation work?
There are two tiers. Released-value protection is included at no cost and pays out sixty cents per pound per item, fine for sturdy furniture, thin for anything expensive. Full-value protection runs one to three percent of the value you declare and backs the shipment with cargo coverage up to a million dollars. Do you handle Riverside and Avondale's historic homes and narrow driveways?
Yes, regularly. Dwayne's crew tends to draw the Riverside and Avondale jobs, older Craftsman bungalows where the driveway width or a porch rail decides how a couch gets inside at all. We scout that ahead of move day instead of improvising on the spot, and it's never billed as an extra.
When do I pay?
When the last box lands where it belongs. Cash, check, or card, whichever suits you. The figure was set in writing before the truck ever left Southside Blvd, so there's no math at the curb and nothing above what you agreed to at booking.
If my plans fall through, does cancelling cost me anything?
Let us know the moment plans shift. Closings fall through and hurricane tracks move dates around all the time, and none of that surprises us after this many years in Jacksonville. Rescheduling costs nothing, as long as you give enough notice for another family on the waitlist to take the opening.
Are the trucks and drivers on move day truly your own, not subcontracted?
Both, yes. The trucks are titled to Jacksonville Budget Movers, and the crew are people we hired and trained ourselves, not day labor pulled together the morning of. Your job never quietly changes hands to a different company, and whoever wrote your quote shows up as part of the crew.
